Glenn Beck – American Revival

Interesting Law…..

Just for giggles, let me run over that one for you. We’re all about to be besieged by campaign commercials on television and radio. Did you know that broadcasters have absolutely no legal right to censor these ads? That’s right! A candidate for office can say absolutely anything he or she wants to in a broadcast campaign ad. A racist candidate could just sit there and repeatedly shout out the “N” word .. followed by “I’m So-and-So, and I approved this message.” The radio station has to run it. Another candidate could describe a completely untrue sexual encounter – in vivid detail – he claims his opponent had with an Orangutan at the local zoo just a few days ago .. and it goes on the air.

Race, lies and videotape

Who is making this stuff up?

How is it possible that the first black president of the United States, under pressure for alleged reverse discrimination against whites at the Justice Department, fires a black Agriculture Department official for telling a story of racial redemption?

How is it possible that such a bright man as the president repeatedly reacts without the facts when it comes to a topic so explosive as race? Last summer he spoke out on a racial controversy without the facts and buried himself in political quicksand that ended with a staged “beer summit.”

Who is buying the beer this time?

The questions keep coming.

How is it possible that the once glorious NAACP – the leading name in America’s fight against racial segregation – has come to the point where it is pushing the first black president to fire anyone – but especially a black woman — on a charge of racism without checking to be sure she was a hateful racist? And the NAACP had the full tape, the full facts before they went after her.

Who can believe that the White House and the NAACP would act on the basis of an Internet video maliciously edited to intentionally distort the woman’s speech? And it is even more incredible that the woman is told that the White House feared Fox News host Glenn Beck might discuss the story and that they wanted her fired before his show went on the air.

Since when is Glenn Beck the czar of White House race relations?

The answers to these questions say a lot about what happens when America mixes race, lies and videotape.

What the NAACP/Tea Party Battle is Really About

The recent dust-up between the NAACP and the tea partiers over charges of “racism” appear to be yet one more instance of blacks accusing whites of insensitivities, real or imagined. In reality, however, these exchanges reflect far deeper animosities that will not vanish with “clarifications” or expelling “racist” tea partiers.

The NAACP and its numerous allies have for decades led the charge to expand government power, including intruding into areas once considered absolutely off-limits to Washington, let alone local government. Tea Partiers are not libertarians but they’ve had enough with government power run amok. This disagreement is, to use Thomas Sowell’s words, an unbridgeable conflict of visions: the tea party’s agenda, even stripped of any racial component contravenes the NAACP’s raison d’être so when the NAACP complains about insensitivities, it is just saying “You intend to destroy us.”

Begin by recognizing that the post-1960s civil rights agenda has been the single most powerful force in expanding Washington power. Nothing even remotely comes close. During WW II Washington set prices, rationed consumer goods and limited business profits, but this infringement was correctly understood as temporary and was universally welcomed as vital to national survival (and it was soon ended). Neither the environmental movement nor consumer protection legislation have penetrated so deeply into the every-day life of Americans.

Thousands protest drilling moratorium at rally

LAFAYETTE — Thousands attended a rally in Lafayette Wednesday aimed at convincing the Obama administration to lift the federal offshore drilling moratorium, which officials said could further endanger the state through the loss of tens of thousands of jobs.

The “Rally for Economic Survival” was held at the Cajundome and drew about 11,000 people, some dressed in their oil industry uniforms, others in shirts bearing messages of “Drill Baby Drill” and “No Moratorium.”

The event attracted national media attention and featured elected leaders from the local, state and federal level.

Lt. Gov. Scott Angelle served as master of ceremonies and fired up an already lively crowd, proclaiming that “it is time to quit punishing innocent American workers to achieve some unrealistic political agenda.”
