Finally: People realizing Obama ‘is a mortal who is in over his head’

As President Barack Obama’s approval rating reaches new lows with seemingly every tracking poll, the question of how he is going to win re-election is a high priority for the president and his administration. However, based on Thursday night’s address to a joint session of Congress, it appears Obama could be attempting to mimic former President Harry Truman’s 1948 campaign against a “do-nothing Congress.”

But on this weekend’s broadcast of “Inside Washington,” Washington Post columnist Charles Krauthammer was doubtful that would be an effective strategy because the so-called independents that voted for him in 2008 are realizing he isn’t all that he was marketed to be.

“[B]arack Obama is no Harry Truman,” Krauthammer said. It’s not that complicated. Obama is over his head. He is a great orator. He came out of nowhere. He dazzled America. He [has] never run anything. He never actually enacted anything even in the legislature. He hadn’t run a state. He hadn’t run a city. He hadn’t run a business. He is running the biggest enterprise in the world and he has not succeeded. And that is why all of these independents, all of those who believed in a soaring rhetoric, including probably a couple who swooned in the aisles as he spoke in 2008, are now waking up and realizing he is a mortal who is in over his head.”

Colby King, also a columnist for The Washington Post, protested Krauthammer’s analysis and said it was inspired by a “dislike for Obama.”

“I think your dislike for Obama is getting in the way of sound analysis of the situation,” King replied. “Week after week after, it is a personalized attack. And now you are saying, ‘he is stupid.’”

SOB’s United

Teamsters President James Hoffa led a rally of union members in Puyallup, Wash. Friday, but was also met with some local Tea Party opposition protesting his “son of a bitches” Labor Day remark.

According to the Sky Valley Chronicle, Hoffa was in town to support grocery warehouse workers fighting for a new contract. The Teamsters want the Fred Meyer distribution center to subsidize their health care premiums.

Workers chanted “Teamster power!” and waved signs that read, “Quality health care now!” A Fred Meyer spokeswoman said the Teamsters‘ health plan doesn’t meet new standards.

“No incentives for being healthy, for being involved in your healthcare, for taking care of yourself,” the spokeswoman said.

When Hoffa spoke, he condemned Fred Meyer for its “organized effort against organized labor,” and repeated part of his anti-Tea Party refrain, declaring its members are waging a “war on workers” and trying to “crush unions.”

Hoffa, who repeatedly defended his comments this week, told local media outlets he is still “very proud of what [he] said” on Labor Day.

“Anytime someone tries to take away the rights of Americans for collective bargaining, anyone trying to take away Social Security, I’ll call them names anytime I want,” Hoffa told KOMO News.

Meanwhile, Leon Donahue was one of those on hand nearby from the Washington Tea Party Movement to protest Hoffa.

Tea Party members waved American flags and held signs proclaiming their collective “SOB” title.

“I’m opposed to a man who is supposed to be dignified and so powerful calling us sons of bitches,” Donahue said.

The American Jobs Act: Why It Will Not Create Jobs

President Obama, last night, outlined his latest greatest proposal for creating jobs: The American Jobs Act. It’s a combination of some good things (tax reductions) and some bad things (tax increases). It’s his grand plan to finally focus on jobs (after 3 years with unemployment over 9%). All of the past stimulus weren’t enough so we are going to try it again with more stimulus money.

What’s that definition of insanity? Doing something over and over and expecting a different result. I expect the result after this stimulus to be the same. Why? Because government doesn’t create jobs.

I’m going to explain how a small business grows in simplest of terms regarding hiring. Since there does seem to be agreement that 70% of the jobs in the United States are created by small businesses then it seems relevant to review how those jobs are created by the small business owner.

You are a small business person. You had an idea. You took a risk. You worked on your idea, you sold your idea, and you managed to make a profit from your sales. The key word here is PROFIT. You have to profit from your enterprise so that you have money to put back into your enterprise. Once you have made enough profit, you can hire additional people. That is how small businesses expand. They make a profit and then invest those profits in expansion by hiring people. Without profits they cannot expand. Without expanding they’re not hiring.

So, President Obama says he is going to extend the payroll tax holiday. That’s great news for the small business owner. But in the next sentence he says he’s going to eliminate those corporate tax loop holes. Huh? If I’m a small business owner I’m listening very carefully to that and here’s what I’m hearing: He’s going to raise my taxes. What does that do? It reduces my profit. What happens when my profits are reduced? I cannot expand and I cannot hire.

Mr. President, wake up and smell the coffee. You have demonized those horrible people that make a profit to the point where they don’t trust you. Nothing would make the small businessman happier than to expand and hire again. But it requires money – profit! And as long as you keep telling them you’re going to reach into their pockets and take it, they will not be hiring.

The American Jobs Act, even if passed, will not create jobs.

9/11 Threat Suspects Could Be U.S. Citizens

Al-Qaida may have sent American terrorists or men carrying U.S. travel documents to launch an attack on Washington or New York to coincide with memorials marking the 10th anniversary of 9/11, government officials say.

One U.S. official says al-Qaida dispatched three men, at least two of whom could be U.S. citizens, to detonate a car bomb in one of the cities. Should that mission prove impossible, the attackers have been told to simply cause as much destruction as they can.

Word that al-Qaida had ordered the mission reached U.S. officials midweek. A CIA informant who has proved reliable in the past approached intelligence officials overseas to say that the men had been ordered by newly minted al-Qaida leader Ayman al Zawahri to mark the 10th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks Sunday by doing harm on U.S. soil.

The tipster says the would-be attackers are of Arab descent and may speak Arabic as well as English. Counterterrorism officials were looking for certain names associated with the threat, but it was unclear whether the names were real or fake.

Counterterrorism officials have been working around the clock to determine whether the threat is accurate, but so far, have been unable to corroborate it, the officials said, speaking on condition of anonymity to discuss the investigation.

In the meantime, extra security was put in place to protect the people in the two cities that took the brunt of the jetliner attacks that killed nearly 3,000 people at the World Trade Center and the Pentagon a decade ago. It was the worst terror assault in the nation’s history, and al-Qaida has long dreamed of striking again to mark the anniversary. But it could be weeks before the intelligence community can say whether this particular threat is real.

All the wrong 9/11 lessons

Are your kids learning the right lessons about 9/11? Ten years after Osama bin Laden’s henchmen murdered thousands of innocents on American soil, too many children have been spoon-fed the thin gruel of progressive political correctness over the stiff antidote of truth.

“Know your enemy, name your enemy” is a 9/11 message that has gone unheeded. Our immigration and homeland security policies refuse to profile jihadi adherents at foreign consular offices and at our borders. Our military leaders refuse to expunge them from uniformed ranks until it’s too late (see: Fort Hood massacre). The j-word is discouraged in Obama intelligence circles, and the term “Islamic extremism” was removed from the U.S. national security strategy document last year.

Similarly, too many teachers refuse to show and tell who the perpetrators of 9/11 were and who their heirs are today. My own daughter was one year old when the Twin Towers collapsed, the Pentagon went up in flames and Shanksville, Pa., became hallowed ground for the brave passengers of United Flight 93. In second grade, her teachers read touchy-feely stories about peace and diversity to honor the 9/11 dead. They whitewashed Osama bin Laden, militant Islam and centuries-old jihad out of the curriculum. Apparently, the youngsters weren’t ready to learn even the most basic information about the evil masterminds of Islamic terrorism.

Mary Beth Hicks, author of the new book “Don’t Let the Kids Drink the Kool-Aid,” points to a recent review of 10 widely used textbooks in which the concepts of jihad and sharia were either watered down or absent. These childhood experts have determined that grade school is too early to delve into the specifics of the homicidal clash of Allah’s sharia-avenging soldiers with the freedom-loving Western world.

Yet, many of the same protectors of fragile elementary-school pupils can’t wait to teach them all the ins and outs of condoms, cross-dressers and crack addictions.
