A man was arrested near the Occupy Philadelphia camp Saturday night after a female protester reported to police she was raped in a tent.
According to police, the rape occurred around 7:45 p.m. Saturday at the Occupy Philadelphia encampment. Afterward, the woman walked to a nearby pay phone and called 911. The suspect was apprehended in the vicinity a short time later, local ABC affiliate WPVI-TV reported.
Police said the victim is a 23-year-old woman from Atlantic City, N.J., and the alleged rapist is a 50-year-old man from Michigan but who has a Pennsylvania address as well. His name has not yet been released, but he reportedly has been arrested a number of times for a string of armed robberies in Michigan.
The victim received medical attention and police cleared the plaza where protesters have been gathered while a crime scene unit and special victims unit investigated.
“The mayor is fully aware, the police commissioner is aware,” said Lt. Ray Evers told WPVI. “The scene is being held and processed. The person is in custody and is being officially identified and processed, and by tomorrow, we should have his picture out.”

Sasha Grey, the porn star who outraged Los Angeles-area elementary school parents after she was invited to read to students last week, said Friday she will not stop reading to kids despite having “a past that some people may not agree with.”
Grey was participating in the National Education Association-sponsored “Read Across America” program at Emerson Elementary School in Compton, Calif., reading to first and third grade students. TMZ obtained photos of the actress — now retired from the adult film industry — interacting with children during the Nov. 2 event.
Parents reportedly complained about Grey’s involvement and her proximity to their children, but instead of acknowledging what happened, the school district denied she had been there at all. A representative from the district told TMZ, “We have several celebrities who read to our students each year. The actress you have indicated [Sasha] was not present.”

Finally, someone tells these kids what they need to hear in a way they can understand.
It makes perfect sense that it would take a Sergeant First Class to lay it out so clearly for a bunch of recent recruits to a cause very different from the nation’s defense.
Way to go, Sarge!
The Mainstream Media and others have been trying to compare these Occupiers of Wall Street and various cities to the Tea Party and citing that they are similar in expressing dissatisfaction. Nothing could be further from the truth and the names of each movement prove that point to be true. Lefties are usually the ones accusing America and the military of occupying countries and they accuse Israel of occupying the Palestinians. And yet, they have gladly seized upon that term to describe themselves. They shout, “This is what Democracy looks like!” They did this both in the union astroturf protests in Wisconsin and they are yelling this at the current protests. These dimwits have no idea what system of government they even live under. Under democracy, the poor and downtrodden would be in truly dire straights.
And anyone who thinks these movements are the same need to watch the following video and see what happens when tea partiers join the protests and the vitriol thrown at the truly disenchanted people who are working to take back this country for all Americans. The Tea Party believes in individual responsibility and accomplishment. If you turn to the government for your living, then they will live your life for you. And these protesters who apparently have no idea what they stand for, will continue chanting inane ideas and playing Alinsky’s and the government’s useful idiots.

Over the last year, the Obama administration has aggressively pushed a $433-million plan to buy an experimental smallpox drug, despite uncertainty over whether it is needed or will work.
Senior officials have taken unusual steps to secure the contract for New York-based Siga Technologies Inc., whose controlling shareholder is billionaire Ronald O. Perelman, one of the world’s richest men and a longtime Democratic Party donor.
When Siga complained that contracting specialists at the Department of Health and Human Services were resisting the company’s financial demands, senior officials replaced the government’s lead negotiator for the deal, interviews and documents show.
When Siga was in danger of losing its grip on the contract a year ago, the officials blocked other firms from competing.
Siga was awarded the final contract in May through a “sole-source” procurement in which it was the only company asked to submit a proposal. The contract calls for Siga to deliver 1.7 million doses of the drug for the nation’s biodefense stockpile. The price of approximately $255 per dose is well above what the government’s specialists had earlier said was reasonable, according to internal documents and interviews.
Once feared for its grotesque pustules and 30% death rate, smallpox was eradicated worldwide as of 1978 and is known to exist only in the locked freezers of a Russian scientific institute and the U.S. government. There is no credible evidence that any other country or a terrorist group possesses smallpox.
If there were an attack, the government could draw on $1 billion worth of smallpox vaccine it already owns to inoculate the entire U.S. population and quickly treat people exposed to the virus. The vaccine, which costs the government $3 per dose, can reliably prevent death when given within four days of exposure.

A cast member of the gay reality TV show “A-List Dallas” tells The Daily Caller that he was punched to the ground and bloodied Friday night by someone vandalizing his car because he’s a gay conservative associated with commentator Ann Coulter.
Taylor Garrett, a Republican consultant in Texas who stars in the reality series on the channel LOGO TV, said in an interview that he was attacked outside a birthday party in Dallas after finding a vandal scratching “F–k Coulter” on the side of his car.
Garrett said the incident reflects a troubling mindset.
“The Democrats want me to live on their plantation as their slave, because I’m a gay person,” he said. “And I refuse to do that.”
Photos provided by Garrett to TheDC show the phrase about Coulter keyed in large letters across his car. Other photos show Garrett with a bloody ear and blood covering his white shirt.
“I was at a party and one of my friends arrived and I had a present for him, so I went back to my car to get the present,” he recalled. “When I walked out to my car, I saw someone squatting next to my car.”
