5-Year-Old Handcuffed, Charged With Battery On Officer

Earlier this year, a Stockton student was handcuffed with zip ties on his hands and feet, forced to go to the hospital for a psychiatric evaluation and was charged with battery on a police officer. That student was 5 years old.

Michael Davis is diagnosed with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder or ADHD. His mother says it has led to fights at school. But when the school district said it had a plan to change Michael’s behavior, his mother says things went wrong.

“Michael is energetic,” Thelma Gray said. “He is one big ball of energy.”

Gray calls Michael a comedian. She says his biggest problem is his ADHD stops him from thinking before he acts or speaks.

“He’s very loving,” Gray said. “He’s a good kid and he’s not the discipline problem that he was made out to be.”

Those discipline problems include fights with other students, even throwing a chair.

Gray says the school, Rio Calaveras Elementary of Stockton, wanted to change that behavior by having Michael meet with a school police officer.

“He could come out and talk to Michael and the kids are normally scared straight,” said Gray, describing how she says the school district proposed the meeting.

Company Policy: ‘We Are Not Hiring Until Obama Is Gone’

A recent report claims that a Georgia business owner has been posting “controversial” signs on his company’s trucks.

What do they say?

“New Company Policy: We are not hiring until Obama is gone.”

“Can’t afford it,” explained the employer, Bill Looman, Tuesday evening in a recent 11Alive report. “I’ve got people that I want to hire now, but I just can’t afford it. And I don‘t foresee that I’ll be able to afford it unless some things change in D.C.”

Looman‘s says he put the signs on his company’s trucks and posted pictures of them to his personal Facebook page six months ago. When he originally did that, he said that he received mostly positive reaction from people, “about 20-to-one positive.”

However, one of those pictures went viral on Monday and the reaction was enormous.

In fact, the reaction was so huge that Looman had to disconnect his phones because of the non-stop calls, and he‘s had to temporarily shut down his company’s website “because of all the traffic crashing the system,” 11Alive reports.

Tea Party Activists Challenge ‘Occupy Black Friday’ With ‘BUYcott Black Friday’

Anti-Occupy Wall Street” groups are taking on the protesters of “Occupy Black Friday” with “BUYcott Black Friday.”

Liberate Philadelphia/Liberate America, a Tea Party coalition of groups countering the “Occupy Wall Street” movement, are challenging the latest move by Occupy Wall Street protesters to occupy or boycott publicly traded retailers on Black Friday by instead encouraging consumers to shop on Black Friday to help the economy recover.

“At a time when our economy is most fragile and ratings agencies are talking about another downgrade of the U.S. credit rating, it’s completely irresponsible for Occupy Wall Street to attempt to bring the U.S. economy to a halt on the busiest shopping day of the year,” Liberate organizer and a spokesman for the Tea Party, John Sullivan, stated in a press release.

Officials Remove Cross From U.S. Military Chapel

Some U.S. servicemen are up in arms after a large cross was removed from outside a chapel on a military base in northern Afghanistan. The base, called Camp Marmal, is German and hosts NATO forces. The chapel in question is an interfaith house of worship that is overseen by the U.S. Army.

Soldiers say that they felt comfort as a result of having the cross visible from the outside of the chapel. In an e-mail to Politico, one serviceman said, “Sometimes the Church and the ability to openly express religious views ultimately gets people through the deployments over here.”

According to this particular soldier, when he asked a chaplain what had happened to the cross, he was told that it needed to be taken down. The faith leader, however, didn’t share any additional information on the matter.

“We are here away from our families, and the chapel is the one place that feels like home,” added another service member. “With the cross on the outside, it is a constant reminder for all of us that Jesus is here for us.”

“Not having it there is really upsetting,” a serviceman explained. “I walk by the chapel daily on the way to chow and the gym, and seeing the cross is a daily reminder of my faith and what Jesus accomplished for me. It is daily inspiration and motivation for me to acknowledge my faith and stay on the right path.”

Aussie hospital reportedly aborts wrong fetus

A healthy 32-week-old fetus was accidentally terminated in an Australian hospital after medical staff mistook him for his sick twin, a newspaper reported on Thursday.

The mother had decided to abort one of the twin boys on medical advice after learning one had a congenital heart defect, the Herald Sun newspaper reported.

But on Tuesday, the wrong baby was injected, terminating the healthy pregnancy.

The mother then had an emergency cesarean section and the sick child was also terminated in a three-hour operation.

The Royal Women’s Hospital in Melbourne would not confirm details, but said Thursday “a distressing clinical accident occurred on Tuesday.”

“This is a terrible tragedy and the hospital is deeply sorry for the loss suffered by the patient and her family,” Australia’s largest hospital specializing in women patients said in a statement.

“We are conducting a full investigation and continue to offer the family and affected staff every support,” it added.

State Health Minister David Davis said that an independent expert would oversee the hospital’s investigation, according to the British Broadcasting Corp.

“I am very much determined to get to the bottom of what went wrong,” he told the BBC.

An unnamed friend of the mother told the newspaper that she was struggling to cope with the tragic error.

“She went to the hospital with two babies and now she has none,” the friend said. “And she had the heartache of giving birth to her sick baby. She’s traumatized,” the friend added.

Health Services Commissioner Beth Wilson, the government watchdog for the health sector in Victoria state, said she had never heard of a mistake like it.

Planned Parenthood passes out tips to promote abortion at Thanksgiving

Often, the holidays are far pleasanter in the abstract than they are in the particulars. Warm intentions to celebrate family with good food, generous attitudes and grateful hearts often give way to heated religious or political debates at one extreme or stiff politeness at the other. It’s tempting to develop a strategy to avoid awkward confrontations — and, on some level, leftover rules of etiquette do compel us to avoid controversial topics when we’re talking to those with whom we don’t have a particularly regular relationship — but, on Thanksgiving, as on any other day, it’s worth it to firmly but graciously defend first principles … especially when opponents of those principles come to the dinner table prepared to muddy the water, obscure the issue and cast you as the intolerant extremist.

And, according to LifeNews.com, the New York affiliate of Planned Parenthood has passed out tips to help abortion advocates do just that:

As is expected, the tips Planned Parenthood of New York City gives its supporters involve covering up promotion of abortion with terms like “reproductive health” and focusing on women’s rights. …

“The holidays are upon us! Going home or getting together with relatives for the holidays is always a stressful time, but if your family members are the type who regularly protest outside the local Planned Parenthood, you know that this holiday is going to be a doozy,” PPNYC complains. “Luckily, we have some tips for surviving those awkward conversations. So read on, and bring some diplomacy and understanding to the table along with that pumpkin pie.”

Planned Parenthood also encourages people to push abortions of disabled unborn children on their Thanksgiving guests, by telling them, “We can try to imagine the heartbreak of a family when they get the news that a test has shown there is something wrong with their baby.”

The tips include “Avoid bumper speak talk” and “Remember the big picture” and abortion activists are told, “Debating when life begins or whether or not abortion is federally funded may get you nowhere. Instead focus on your shared values and the big picture—for instance, talk about how you believe everyone should be able to afford to go to the doctor, or how the decision about when and whether to become a parent is a personal one.”

As LifeNews’ Steven Ertelt summarizes, “Anything to ignore the unborn baby.”

If a PPNYC-prepped pro-choicer wants to talk abortion with me today, I’ll be glad to keep it positive and personal, too: Among all the blessings I’m counting this Thanksgiving, I’m first and foremost just so glad and grateful that my parents weren’t more concerned with reproductive health or women’s rights than they were with welcoming me into the world with open arms. And that’s exactly what I wish for every unborn baby — a warm welcome, whether into the home of the biological parent or into the home of an eager adoptive parent. We do have choices — both before and after pregnancy. Abortion need not be one of them.
