Fox Piven, Danny Glover, & Occupiers To ‘Celebrate’ Cop-Killer’s Birthday

Did you get a “Save The Date” card about April 24th’s special birthday celebration for convicted cop killer Mumia Abu-Jamal? (I did not receive one either, but this was sent my way.)

If you are not familiar with Mumia’s case, he is the former Black Panther who was convicted of murdering a police office in Philadelphia on December 9, 1981. Although he was given the death penalty, endless appeals have kept Abu-Jamal alive on death row. Last December, a deal was struck to end the appeals process and Mumia Abu-Jamal’s sentence was changed to life without parole.

That sentencing change has not stopped the movement that wants Mumia’s conviction overturned and they have scheduled an event to continue their protest.

Rappin’ Rev. Wright!

Rev. Jeremiah Wright has unloaded on a few hot topics over the last few days as Billy Hallowell has pointed out in a Blaze Exclusive. The Reverend made headlines for livid comments on white supremacy and Clarence Thomas’s God, or lack thereof, while giving remarks last week at Metropolitan Baptist Church in Charleston, West Virginia.

But President Obama’s pastor of 20 years is not done yet, not by a longshot. The Blaze has uncovered more. Much, much more.

Prepare yourself for Rev. Jeremiah Wright and the hot hits!

Wright spices up his sermons with eight, count ‘em eight, great musical moments! He raps like Lil’ Wayne! He goes ganja like Bob Marley. And, warning, there is some crotch grabbing.

More Black on White Violence

Gainesville, Florida, police are investigating what they believe may have been a “racially motivated” attack early Tuesday morning stemming from the nationally covered Trayvon Martin case involving the tragic death of an unarmed 17-year-old.

According to local news affiliates, a 27-year-old Gainesville man was walking home from the bars early Tuesday morning when he said he was jumped by five to eight men who yelled “Trayvon” before the attack. The call before the attack appears to be in reference to the Sandford case that has rocked national headlines, and led to broader societal discussions on crime and race. News4Jax reports:

Gainesville investigators told The Gainesville Sun that they believe Tuesday morning’s attack stemmed from the Martin case.

“We do believe that the crime was racially motivated,” Gainesville Police Department spokeswoman Cpl. Angelina Valuri said.

Valuri said the victim was white and the attackers were black.

Police said the victim had been drinking, so the only description he had of the attackers or their vehicle was that is was a mid-size vehicle. But Valuri did say that the victim’s injuries were consistent with being jumped by a group.

The victim told police that he was beaten for five minutes. He had injuries to his left eye, abrasions to his palms and a cut on his right knee cap. Valuri said he would likely have permanent damage to the left side of his face. He was taken to Shands Gainesville for treatment.

Tax Freedom Day

Think that you are working to earn a living for you and your family? Think again. Since 2012 began, you have worked each and every day as a slave to the government. In fact, you will have to work until April 17th to earn enough to pay off the combined 29.2% federal, state, and local tax bill. This date – April 17th – is also known as Tax Freedom Day. This year it arrived four days later than last year.

To put some things into perspective … in 1900, Tax Freedom Day came on January 22nd when Americans paid just 5.9% of their income in federal, state and local taxes. Fast-forward to 2012, if our imperial federal government raised taxes enough to close the budget deficit, Tax Freedom Day wouldn’t come until May 14th. When Barack Obama assumed the throne in 2009, Tax Freedom Day was on April 10th.

Tax Freedom Day technically comes on different days depending on the level of tax burden imposed by your state and local municipalities. Any guesses as to which state has the lowest tax burden, and therefore the earliest Tax Freedom Day? Tennessee on March 31st.

Politicians realized long ago that the tax code could be used as a tool of social manipulation. It could be used to promise things to the moochers and punish the achievers. It could be used to favor certain industries and bog down others into paper-work obscurity. Even our own commissioner of the IRS, Douglas Shulman says that our tax code “absolutely” needs to be simplified.

‘I May Give Up Writing and Work as a Butler’

After publishing an article advising his children to avoid black people, writer John Derbyshire lost his column at uber-conservative magazine The National Review and weathered a firestorm of outrage this weekend. Nonetheless, after undergoing his regularly scheduled chemotherapy treatment for Chronic Lymphomatic Leukemia this morning, an unperturbed Derbyshire agreed to a Gawker Q&A. His only request: That we publish his answers exactly as he wrote them. We agreed, and have not edited him.

For those speed-reading, I recommend doing a Ctrl+F for “daughter,” “black American rap artists,” and “Rich Lowry.”

How did you find out the National Review was firing you?

I got an email from Rich Lowry Saturday evening. We had exchanged three or four emails on the topic earlier in the day.

And how do you feel about it?

A bit sad. I liked working with NR. (“With,” not “for”—I was never a salaried employee, just a freelancer with an “understanding” that they’d use my stuff when suitable. It follows, by the way, that I was not “fired.” I don’t think you can fire someone who’s not an employee.) However, I have some health issues at the moment, next to which everything else seems pretty secondary, so my overall attitude is blithe, with just a dash of sad.

Do you think you’re more racist than Rich Lowry, or the other NR writers? I found your honesty in the Taki’s Magazine article almost refreshing—these are the same concepts that plenty of NR articles tiptoe around, you just said it outright.

I have no idea. I’m am a strong empiricist, from early training. I like data, numbers, facts, science (when there is some organized science, which is not always the case). Any fool can open his mouth and push out a string of words, and every fool does. Give me some facts, some evidence, some credentialed research. On the matter of racism, which I take to mean generalized feelings about different human races, the best quantifier we have to date is the Implicit Association Test. So if Rich and his colleagues publish their IAT tests in full, as I have mine, I’ll hazard an answer to your question.

Obama is a Class Warfare Liar

Today Caesar Obammus will be in Florida, pandering to the mindless whims of the moocher masses.

Wait a minute … that’s not strong enough. The whole truth makes it stronger. Today Obama will be in Florida LYING THROUGH HIS TEETH.

When Obama gets to Palm Beach (where he has three fundraisers, by the way) the focus of his speech will be to lie to them by telling them that that the rich aren’t paying their fair share (a lie) and that we must insist that the Senate pass the Buffett Rule to raise taxes on these evil people. We went through this routine yesterday, and we will likely continue to go through this routine until the Senate votes on April 16th. But even if the procedural vote does not pass, the Democrats and Obama will continue to spread this lie right up until election day. Why? Because it works with the government educated dumb masses, and they know their protectors in the ObamaMedia will not call them on it. Today’s storyline will be that the Democrats tried to make America more “fair” and that the extreeeemist Republicans in Congress are blocking their efforts. Republicans want to protect rich people and big oil at the expense of the middle class and all of you who are struggling to get by. Never mind the fact that people are struggling thanks to Obama’s remarkably lame recovery.

Democrats are already priming the pump for today’s address. Chuckie Schumer told CBS “This Morning” that “there is no class warfare involved; it’s a question simply of fairness.” He has no comment as to how it is fair that the evil rich earn about 20% of the income and pay close to 40% of the income taxes. He has no comment on whether or not it is fair that the effective income tax rate of the richest 1% is about 29.5%, or about twice the 15.1% paid by middle-class families. He has no comment on the effect of raising capital gains taxes to income tax levels to 44.75% … the effect on investment and job creation would be damaging, to say the least. And he has no comment on the fact that about 50% of income earners in this country – the bottom 50% — pay absolutely no federal income tax at all.

Chuckie also says, “We have believed, as a country, that higher-income people should pay a higher percentage of income since the 16th Amendment, which was 1912, it came in with Woodrow Wilson and the Progressives.” That right there is reason enough to get rid of the 16th Amendment. But it seems as though both Barack Obama and now Chuckie Schumer are not regular readers of the Wall Street Journal. As I pointed out yesterday, America ALREADY has the most progressive tax system in the world … even when compared to European socialist nations. If they’ve studied economics and the Laffer Curve, they would realize that our system can only handle so much taxation before it starts to be a burden on our society and tax receipts .

President Obama’s $1 Million Pizza Party

President Barack Obama is coming to the Motor City for a $1 million pizza party being thrown for him compliments of Denise Ilitch, daughter of Little Caesars’ founders Mike and Marian Ilitch. Ilitch is opening her home April 18 for the fundraiser where movers and shakers are being asked to pony up thousands to add to his re-election coffer while getting a chance to rub shoulders with the most powerful man on the planet. “I’m honored to have been asked,” by the Obama campaign to host,” Ilitch said of the event she and husband, Jim Scalici, will hold at their Metro Detroit home. She made the comments on “Michigan Matters” when asked about media reports. Watch the full episode.

When asked what she planned to serve, she said: “Pizza! But, we’ll be serving it on sterling silver plates!”

The price of admission isn’t for those on a budget. $40,000 buys access to the cocktail reception, formal photo with Obama and dinner. $10,000 buys dinner and a photo.

The event is the latest twist in the political relationship between Obama and Ilitch, eldest of the Ilitch’s seven children. Mike and Marian also own the Detroit Red Wings, Detroit Tigers, Fox Theatre, Motor City Casino and more. The family is among the wealthiest and most influential in Michigan with an empire worth billions.
