Congress Demands Answers After Report Reveals CIA Found Militant-Links Within 24 Hours of Benghazi Attack

Republican lawmakers expressed outrage on Friday after it was revealed that President Barack Obama’s administration had information shortly after the attack that indicated that militants, not protesters angry about an anti-Muslim YouTube video, launched the attack on the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi, Libya.

Within 24 hours of the deadly attack, the CIA station chief in Libya reported to Washington that there were eyewitness reports that the attack was carried out by militants, officials told The Associated Press. But for nearly two weeks, the Obama administration blamed the assault on a corny low-budget video ridiculing Islam’s Prophet Muhammad.

The report from the station chief was written late Wednesday, Sept. 12, and reached intelligence agencies in Washington the next day, intelligence officials said. It is not clear how widely the information from the CIA station chief was circulated.

U.S. intelligence officials have said the information was just one of many widely conflicting accounts, which became clearer by the following week.

It was also revealed on Friday that U.S. Ambassador Chris Stevens had concerns about security and al-Qaeda prior to the attack. Fox News reports:

Joe Biden Interrupts Woman’s Sad Breast Cancer Story With On-Stage Squatting Charades

At a campaign event Friday afternoon in Florida, Vice President Joe Biden and Senator Bill Nelson took the stage to a cheering crowd. They were being introduced by a Florida resident named Barbra who began by telling a story about her struggle with breast cancer. She was in the middle of describing her fear of relapse when Biden went over to Sen. Nelson, whispered something, and then eventually started doing squatting charades in an effort to get the crowd to sit down. The Vice President also gave thumbs up to the crowd and broke into laughter while the woman was telling her story.

Death Threats Against Romney Soar After Second Debate: Will Media Cover?

Running for president isn’t just a long, arduous struggle anymore, it’s downright dangerous! Proof of this can be found in hundreds of online death threats made against GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney that are receiving far less coverage in “mainstream” news outlets than when Barack Obama faced similar hostility while campaigning for the White House in 2008.

One example of the disparity between the coverage of the 2008 and 2012 campaigns is the multitude of death threats posted on the Twitter social website against the former Massachusetts governor since the second presidential debate on Tuesday.

Most of the reporting on this situation is being provided by a number of right-leaning websites, including Twitchy, Infowars, PrisonPlanet, The Blaze and Breitbart.

Twitchy has compiled a list of some of the most outrageous and vulgar postings from people who fear that the Republican leader might actually win on November 6, including a tweet posted by Alyece Johnson in which she says: “Romney make me wanna hop through the tv & just assassinate his ass.”

“If Romney wins this election, he might as well wear a shirt that says ‘Assassinate Me Bitch,'” was posted by a person with the screen name Gotta___Love3it.

“Y’all ready to assassinate romney?” asks Paper Habits. Apparently, Weston Sebree is ready since he states: “I’m gonna murder Romney right now–.”

Meanwhile, Bri Mack states: I would bail anyone out if they was just to murder romney right now.”

I’m down RT went so far as to state: “I hate Romney’s voice … , somebody assassinate him now pls.”

Many of the threats came from people who believe that if Romney is elected, he’ll do away with the food stamp program (which isn’t true), and that’s why Judith_bossinx3 shouts: IF ROMNEY GES ELECTED AND TAKES AWAY MY FOOD STAMPS IMA SEND SOMEONE TO MURDER HIS ASS.”

And Mark Garcia takes a bipartisan approach to the situation. “Give me a rifle I’ll assassinate both Romney and Obama.”

‘My Son Is Not Very Optimal — He Is Also Very Dead’: Mother of State Dept. Official Slain in Libya Blasts Obama Remark

The mother of a State Department official killed during the terrorist attack on the U.S. Consulate in Libya blasted President Barack Obama’s “not optimal” comment about the deaths of four Americans, saying, “My son is not very optimal — he is also very dead.”

Pat Smith, mother of State Department computer expert Sean Smith, told the Daily Mail Friday that Obama’s remark on “The Daily Show” was “a disrespectful thing to say and I don’t think it’s right.”

“How can you say somebody being killed is not very optimal? I don’t think the president has the right idea of the English language,” Smith, 72, told the Mail from her San Diego, Calif. home. “It’s insensitive to say my son is not very optimal — he is also very dead. I’ve not been optimal since he died and the past few weeks have been pure hell.”

Obama had been responding to Comedy Central host Jon Stewart’s question about the White House’s shifting response to the Libya attack. Stewart used the word “optimal” in his question, saying: “I would say, even you would admit, it was not the optimal response, at least to the American people, as far as all of us being on the same page.”

“Here’s what I’ll say,” Obama replied. “If four Americans get killed, it’s not optimal. We’re going to fix it.”

Fraud! Voter ID Laws, Obamacare, and You!

“If you have someone cast a fraudulent vote, they disenfranchise, cancel out the vote of the legitimate voters, for example: someone who votes twice, someone who is voting out of state, someone who is dead, someone who’s impersonation someone else; all those things cancel out legitimate voters.”

So what can be done, and what can you do to protect your vote?

Prolific author and National Review columnist John Fund stopped by TheBlaze to discuss voter fraud and just how much it actually affects your life, from the value of your vote to the policies implemented regarding your health-care. Fund’s newest book on voter fraud, Who’s Counting?: How Fraudsters and Bureaucrats put Your Vote at Risk, covers a variety of areas discussed in this interview including our confidence in our votes, where voter fraud exists, how fraudsters are getting away with their crimes, as well as the myths and arguments over the topic we see debated in the media relentlessly the past few months.

In the discussion Monday with Mallory Factor, contributor to TheBlaze, Fund exposes the massive amount of voter fraud which happens today, stating: “One out of eight (of our voter registration rolls), according to the Pew Research Center, are either invalid or contain major errors.”

Factor begins the conversation with a challenge, namely, the question many of us face during election time, “Aren’t only swing states to worry about when it comes to voter fraud?” Fund responds “sure, but not for all other elections down the line…” including electing your congressmen, senators, state representatives, mayors, and town councils. Fund desires to make it clear that not only is voter fraud immense and growing, as will be seen in just a moment, but it is an issue that affects all citizens, from who represents you the next four years to what health care policies get passed through the House and Senate.

Us Mag Headlines Cost of Ann Romney’s Dress, Buries Higher Cost of Michelle’s

Us Magazine had a little tidbit of gossip when it discovered who made Ann Romney’s and Michelle Obama’s hot pink dresses worn to the recent presidential debate. In its headline Us blares that Ann Romney’s dress cost “$1,690.” But Michelle Obama’s ensemble was priced at $3,290 despite the silence of the headline.

Us gives the world the following headline: “0.”

In the body of the piece Us reports this description of Ann Romney’s couture.

Romney, 63, selected a short-sleeved crimped cotton silk dress by Oscar de la Renta. The Spring 2013 design is not yet available in stores, but retails for $1,690.

I expect we are supposed to find it shocking, downright shocking, that a millionaire could afford to fork out nearly $1,700 for a frock.

And yet, “public servant” Michelle Obama’s outfit was almost twice as costly as Romney’s.

Obama, 48, styled a shift dress and cropped jacket from Michael Kors’ 2013 resort collection. The dress retails for $1,795 and the jacket is $1,495.

Death Panels are HERE

Today while working my shift in the emergency room, an old lady was brought in very sick and in fact near death. I did my usual workup and evaluation and attempted to administer life saving treatment. It was my plan to admit this woman to the hospital. I found out a little later that this same woman had been a patient here just slightly more than 2 weeks ago with a DIFFERENT DIAGNOSIS. I was told that if this woman was admitted, the hospital would not be paid.

The new Medicare rule now is that if the same Medicare patient is re-admitted to the hospital within 30 days, the hospital will not be paid. When they first started this nonsense they said this only applied to patients with the same diagnosis. Now they have “expanded” the rule to include re-admissions for any reason. So if you’re in the hospital for pneumonia, and 3 weeks later, you break your leg…….too bad. Medicare will not pay the hospital to fix your leg.

A little later a man was brought in by ambulance, very sick, in pain, and near death. I did my usual evaluation and treatment, doing my best to ease pain and stabilize this man’s illness. He needed to be admitted. To my chagrin I found out that he had been treated for the SAME problem at a DIFFERENT HOSPITAL about 10 days prior. If I admitted this man, our hospital would be paid nothing. I admitted the man.

My friends I am caught in a terrible position. I could have given treatment to both of these people and sent them out. There is no doubt that both of them would have died. Oh, I could also be sued for malpractice, but nobody cares about that. That’s why we have insurance, right?

My other choice is to admit the person, knowing full well that the hospital will have to absorb the cost of care without hope of remuneration.

CIA found militant links a day after Libya attack

The CIA station chief in Libya reported to Washington within 24 hours of last month’s deadly attack on the U.S. Consulate that there was evidence it was carried out by militants, not a spontaneous mob upset about an American-made video ridiculing Islam’s Prophet Muhammad, U.S. officials have told The Associated Press.

It is unclear who, if anyone, saw the cable outside the CIA at that point and how high up in the agency the information went. The Obama administration maintained publicly for a week that the attack on the diplomatic mission in Benghazi that killed U.S. Ambassador Chris Stevens and three other Americans was a result of the mobs that staged less-deadly protests across the Muslim world around the 11th anniversary of the 9/11 terror attacks on the U.S.

Those statements have become highly charged political fodder as the presidential election approaches. A Republican-led House committee questioned State Department officials for hours about what GOP lawmakers said was lax security at the consulate, given the growth of extremist Islamic militants in North Africa.

And in their debate on Tuesday, President Barack Obama and Republican challenger Mitt Romney argued over when Obama first said it was a terror attack. In his Rose Garden address the morning after the killings, Obama said, “No acts of terror will ever shake the resolve of this great nation, alter that character or eclipse the light of the values that we stand for.”

But Republicans say he was speaking generally and didn’t specifically call the Benghazi attack a terror attack until weeks later, with the president and other key members of his administration referring at first to the anti-Muslim movie circulating on the Internet as a precipitating event.

Now congressional intelligence committees are demanding documents to show what the spy agencies knew and when, before, during and after the attacks.

The White House now says the attack probably was carried out by an al Qaida-linked group, with no public demonstration beforehand. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton blamed the “fog of war” for the early conflicting accounts.

The officials who told the AP about the CIA cable spoke anonymously because they were not authorized to release such information publicly.

Congressional aides say they expect to get the documents by the end of this week to build a timeline of what the intelligence community knew and compare that to what the White House was telling the public about the attack. That could give Romney ammunition to use in his foreign policy debate with Obama on Monday night.

The two U.S. officials said the CIA station chief in Libya compiled intelligence reports from eyewitnesses within 24 hours of the assault on the consulate that indicated militants launched the violence, using the pretext of demonstrations against U.S. facilities in Egypt against the film to cover their intent. The report from the station chief was written late Wednesday, Sept. 12, and reached intelligence agencies in Washington the next day, intelligence officials said.

Yet, on Saturday of that week, briefing points sent by the CIA to Congress said “demonstrations in Benghazi were spontaneously inspired by the protests at the U.S. Embassy in Cairo and evolved into a direct assault.”

The briefing points, obtained by the AP, added: “There are indications that extremists participated in the violent demonstrations” but did not mention eyewitness accounts that blamed militants alone.

Such raw intelligence reports by the CIA on the ground would normally be sent first to analysts at the headquarters in Langley, Va., for vetting and comparing against other intelligence derived from eavesdropping drones and satellite images. Only then would such intelligence generally be shared with the White House and later, Congress, a process that can take hours, or days if the intelligence is coming only from one or two sources who may or may not be trusted.

State Department granted New York terror plotter a student visa

Last December, the State Department issued a student visa to the Bangladeshi man arrested this week for trying to blow up the Federal Reserve building with what he thought was a 1,000-pound bomb, the State Department confirmed today.

Twenty-one-year-old Quazi Mohammad Rezwanul Ahsan Nafis, who was arrested Wednesday as part of an FBI sting operation, was reportedly in contact with al Qaeda before he entered the United States in January to attend Southeast Missouri State University, where he was studying cyber security. But the State Department’s system to check visa applicants didn’t find any reason to deny him entry, and the department issued his visa.

“The suspect did have a student visa to attend a legitimate academic program in the United States, for which he was qualified,” State Department spokesman Victoria Nuland said today. “Visa decisions are made in accordance with applicable law and department regulations. Each case is looked at on a case-by-case basis, taking into account all of the information contained in U.S. government databases and in consultation with other government agencies.”

The State Department has its own database for vetting visa applications, called the Consular Lookout and Support System (CLASS), which keeps a list of those foreigners who should not be granted a visa. There are 39 million records in that system but Nafis wasn’t one of them, Nuland said.
