MARK LEVIN TEARS INTO OBAMA’S ‘IMPERIAL’ PRESIDENCY AND HIS USE OF EXECUTIVE ORDERS: ‘WHAT THE HELL IS THIS?’

Appearing on Fox News’ “America Live” on Monday, conservative radio host Mark Levin blasted President Barack Obama’s use of executive orders to further his agenda, saying the president believes he is no longer bound by the Constitution because he won reelection.

“He keeps telling us he won reelection, congratulations,” Levin said. “But guess what? The Constitution wasn’t up for election…he has to comply with it too.”

Levin went on to say that Obama has been “pushing the edge of the envelope” as far as his executive powers are concerned. He lamented his “unilateral action” on immigration, violation of the appointment clause, “trashing the commerce clause” under Obamacare and now he is threatening executive action over the Second Amendment.

“What the hell is this? He was elected president, congratulations,” Levin added. “This guy makes Richard Nixon look like a man who followed the law all the time. I think we have an imperial president…he’s arrogant as hell and so I’m furious about this.”

The Constitution, Levin explained, was not and is still not “up for grabs.” He also said President George W. Bush doesn’t compare to Obama when talking about expanding the powers of the executive branch.

“You would think that the Constitution is just another statute for these guys to play with,” he added. “This is why I’m furious. Because once we lose the Constitution, and we’re losing it big, what’s left? How do we keep these people in check?”

If Obama really does attempt to take executive action to enact gun control, it will “not be very pretty,” he concluded.

GOP congressman threatens impeachment if Obama uses executive action for gun control

Texas Republican Rep. Steve Stockman threatened Monday afternoon that he would file articles of impeachment against President Barack Obama if he institutes gun control measures with an executive order.

Stockman warned that such executive orders would be “unconstitutional” and “infringe on our constitutionally-protected right to keep and bear arms.”

“I will seek to thwart this action by any means necessary, including but not limited to eliminating funding for implementation, defunding the White House, and even filing articles of impeachment,” Stockman said in a statement.

At his press conference Monday, Obama floated the possibility of using executive action to enact policies aimed at reducing gun violence.

The freshman congressman, who served one term in Congress in the mid-1990s, further labeled the possibility “an existential threat to this nation” because, he said, the purpose of the Second Amendment is to allow the people to protect themselves from tyranny.

YOU MAY WANT TO SIT DOWN: BIDEN SAYS WHITE HOUSE HAS IDENTIFIED 19 EXECUTIVE ACTIONS OBAMA CAN TAKE ON GUNS

Vice President Joe Biden on Monday told a group of sympathetic House Democrats that the White House has identified 19 executive actions President Barack Obama can take to unilaterally act on gun control, Politico reports.

Because the Obama administration understands that enacting sweeping gun control legislation through Congress would be difficult, it has placed an emphasis on the use of executive orders to get around the elected representatives of the American people and strengthen gun regulations.

Among the executive actions Biden is believed to have recommended to Obama are tougher penalties for people who lie on background checks, elevating gun trafficking to a felony charge and ending limits that make it harder for the federal government to research gun violence. But remember, there are reportedly 19 of them that the White House will consider.

The president’s proposals are also expected to include steps for improving school safety and mental health care, as well as recommendations for addressing violence in entertainment and video games. Pro-gun rights groups, including the NRA, have long insisted that insufficient mental health care and violent images are more to blame for mass shootings than the availability of guns.
