The NFL Has Lost Its Mind

The NFL has proposed a rule change that would prevent ball-carriers from initiating contact with the crown of the helmet. It’s an attempt to make the game safer – but the league’s all-time leading rusher, Emmitt Smith, thinks the NFL should have its own head examined.

“If I’m a running back and I’m running into a linebacker, you’re telling me I have to keep my head up so he can take my chin off?” Smith said Thursday in an exclusive interview with Dallas radio station 105.3 The Fan. “You’ve absolutely lost your mind.”

The NFL’s rules-making competition committee will propose this change to NFL owners at league meetings next week. At least 24 votes from 32 owners are required for passage.

“As a running back, it’s almost impossible (to not lower your head),” the Dallas Cowboys legend said. “The first thing you do is get behind your shoulder pads. That means you’re leaning forward and the first part of contact that’s going to take place is your head, regardless.

“I disagree with the rule altogether. It doesn’t make any sense for that position. It sounds like it’s been made up by people who have never played the game of football.”

It is the league’s view that the crown of the helmet is dangerous for both the defender (who isn’t allowed to use the technique against ball-carriers) and the player with the ball. The competition committee is clearly seeking extra protection for defenders.

“That’s part of the game,” Smith said of “the violent part of the game … I don’t know how you’re going to be able to enforce that rule without really jeopardizing the integrity of the game itself.”

Let Them Be Damned

‘Uninvited’ Panel

A strong movement has to be willing to not only discuss the issues where everyone agrees, but also to debate important issues where opinion isn’t settled. The goal isn’t to get acclimation on every issue, but to understand the views of allies with differing opinions. By dampening distrust, it allows more robust cooperation on issues where there is agreement.

The conservative movement, in particular, has to be willing to confront important issues, even if causes some members discomfort. The left comes from a singular philosophy; increase centralized control over citizens. Conservatism is built on the sanctity of the individual, but its members are animated by different issues. Conservatives must address all issues where individual liberty is threatened, and it must allow all voices to be heard. That is the spirit underlying Breitbart News’ “Uninvited” session at CPAC on Saturday.

Andrew Breitbart’s animating vision was that all conservative voices deserve to be heard. Moreover, that all issues vital to our national interest deserve a hearing. If the conservative movement bows to the media or a political establishment and censors its discussions, it is cheapened and made weaker.

In that spirit, Breitbart News has organized an impressive panel of experts to address issues which are all to often swept under the rug.

The “Uninvited” panel will take place on Saturday, March 16th from 1-3pm. The event is being held at the Gaylord Convention Center at National Harbor, host hotel for CPAC. The wide-ranging discussion will address the threat of radical islam, the rampant rise of crony capitalism and the undermining of our nation’s military, among other issues. Through active engagement between policy experts and CPAC attendees, “Uninvited” will provide conservatives a robust forum on issues that pose an existential threat to our nation.

Stephen K. Bannon, Executive Chairman of Breitbart News Network, said, “This session is not simply about speakers and panelists, but about direct engagement and participation by the CPAC audience. Andrew Breitbart believed in more voices, not less, and that is what this session will be about. We will get as many people as possible to the microphone to ask their questions and engage our speakers.”

CPAC 2013: Sheriff Mack: How A Constitutional Sheriff Can Protect Your 2nd Amendment Rights (Video)

Nice Deb

Richard Mack, former sheriff for Graham County, AZ spoke about state rights in the fight to keep our Second Amendment rights, yesterday.

Part One:

Part Two:

The sheriff’s book, The Magic Of Gun Control is now available as an instant audio download. Here’s a sample.

Mack writes at his website:

I tried a little more of a fun approach in this book, comparing politicians of our day to magicians: It’s all about sleight of hand and misdirection, not actual magic. The metaphor works out pretty well when you think about it. My editor and I even came up with a new word: Polimagicians! After we thought of it, he did an internet search and found out that we weren’t the first one to dream it up, but that’s ok. We’re in good company.

Pro-life grandmother attacked at abortion clinic

A woman exited a Planned Parenthood clinic and smacked a camera phone out of the hands of a pro-life observer yesterday, but 63-year-old Rae Stabosz caught the assault on video, and it is now posted on Youtube.

Stabosz says she was threatened by a young woman as she stood outside an abortion clinic in Wilmington, Del. In the video, Stabosz is seen calling 911 to report the threat when a young woman leaves the clinic, heads straight at Stabosz and knocks the camera out of her hands.

Someone can then be heard saying “get the f*** away” as the video shows a foot stomping on the phone.

Stabosz was treated and released from a hospital with minor injuries. But, first, she went into the clinic, retrieved her phone and resumed videoing.

Earlier in the day, Stabosz was praying outside the clinic when a woman and her mother arrived, according to LifeNews. Stabosz learned the woman had complications from an abortion performed March 8.

Stabosz persuaded the woman to go to a hospital, where doctors reportedly discovered a leg and a foot had been left inside her. The woman underwent surgery and was referred to an attorney.

After the incident, Stabosz, a Catholic grandmother of 12, went to Mass. When she returned to Planned Parenthood, she saw another medical emergency in progress.

That’s when she reported being assaulted. After she retrieved her phone, Stabosz videoed a gurney with an injured patient, covered entirely in blankets and sheets, being put into an ambulance.

Stabosz says they were the third and fourth abortion injuries at the clinic in five weeks. Two other medical emergencies took place at the Planned Parenthood clinic Feb. 8 and Feb. 16, according to LifeNews.

As is being reported this morning by the few media outlets still reporting on the Brooklyn protests riots, Thursday night, the fourth night of protests on Church Avenue over the death of Kimani Gray was far more contained and the size of the crowd just as small.

The above paragraph is the message that most are receiving this morning, if at all, due to (i) a media blackout on the East Flatbush protests, (ii) last night’s memorial, (iii) a drastic drop in the size of the protests and (iv) that section of East Flatbush being under martial law.  The latter of which, protesters and those living and working within the community have finally taken note.

There were, however, a few outbreaks here and there, not to mention the infighting between different Progressive factions anxious to control the message and the people.

Does God hear your prayers?

Daily Proverbs

The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination to the Lord, but the prayer of the upright is acceptable to him. The way of the wicked is an abomination to the Lord, but he loves him who pursues righteousness. ~Proverbs 15:8-9 ESV

The thoughts of the wicked are an abomination to the Lord, but gracious words are pure. ~Proverbs 15:26 ESV

The Lord is far from the wicked, but he hears the prayer of the righteous. ~Proverbs 15:29 ESV

Activating God's FavorThese four verses in Proverbs 15 form a theme of sorts: God is not on the side of people who think or behave wickedly. What does this mean for you? Let’s ponder each of the thoughts expressed here.

According to Proverbs 15, wicked people:

  • offer sacrifices to God, which are rejected
  • make lifestyle choices that disobey and displease God
  • are filled with habitual thoughts that do not honor God
  • are distant from God…
