By Cheryl K. Chumley, The Washington Times – “Afghanistan’s parliament has rejected a measure that would have barred men from marrying girls younger than 16, saying the proposal ran counter to Islamic ideology.
The measure also would have banned ‘baad, [the] traditional practice of buying or selling women to settle disputes,’ and outlawed criminal charges being imposed on rape victims, Breitbart reported. Rape victims in Afghanistan often are charged with fornication or adultery.
President Hamid Karzai reportedly supported the measures, but opponents said they ‘violate[d] Islamic principles,’ Breitbart reported.
The failure of parliament to act in accordance with Mr. Karzai highlights a deep rift among the nation’s politicians. And it comes at a time when elections are set for April 2014…

At least several cases of wrongdoing have been derailed and covered up by senior officials in Hillary Clinton’s State Department. H/t Doug Ross.
Cheryl Mills, the Clintons’ long time pit-bull/fixer and former board member of Center for American Progress is suspected of running interference in at least one of the sex scandals shutting down the investigation. That would be the same Cheryl Mills who is somehow involved in the Benghazi cover up.
In addition, members of the Special Investigations Division (SID) ordered investigators to shut down at least four investigations, one of which involves drugs and a death resulting from a methadone overdose. (See IG’s redacted report at bottom of post.)

World negative reaction to Obama NSA spying is building …
German outrage over a U.S. Internet spying program has broken out ahead of a visit by Barack Obama, with ministers demanding the president provide a full explanation when he lands in Berlin next week and one official likening the tactics to those of the East German Stasi.
German Chancellor Angela Merkel’s spokesman has said she will raise the issue with Obama in talks next Wednesday, potentially casting a cloud over a visit that was designed to celebrate U.S.-German ties on the 50th anniversary John F. Kennedy’s famous “Ich bin ein Berliner” speech.
