On Monday of this week, officials at Fort Collins High School refused a student-council led request to honor America as part of its Winter Spirit Week. Their reason: the potential for offending non-Americans.
As school opened Tuesday morning, a small protest was organized and continued throughout the day. As a result, the administration reversed its decision and decided to allow the “America Day” to proceed.
Political correctness and hyper-sensitivity has run amok. Congratulations to these students for fighting back and shame on the school administration for its cowardliness.
As a general rule, the lives of celebrities do not interest me in the slightest. The current and very public controversy surrounding Woody Allen, however, strikes a little close to home for me to ignore. My thoughts on this are with reference to the excellent article in today’s National Post by Jonathan Kay.
Allen’s 28 year old daughter Dylan Farrow has publicly accused Allen of sexually abusing her as a child. A heinous act for certain, if true. But as Mr. Kay astutely implies, it almost certainly isn’t. Dylan’s older brother Moses is the key to seeing through the smoke screen here.
As Moses relates, it was his mother Mia who drummed into him and sister Dylan to hate their father for tearing the family apart and for sexually molesting his sister. It was Mia who created the atmosphere of fear and hatred towards their father.

The NAACP and a host of other leftist groups held a march in North Carolina today to protest, among many other things, voter IDs. Sister Toldjah has a full report here.
Protesters were given a list of reminders for what they’d need at the protest and some of the items were a bit ironic. Would you believe… photo IDs?
Funny how the liberal San Francisco Chronicle left out that little detail in their report.
I can’t wait to see if CNN or MSNBC mention it.
