Rachel Maddow Blames Bush for Putin’s Invasion of Ukraine

Whiskey Tango Foxtrot

Ms. Maddow told colleague Andrea Mitchell that Mr. Bush’s entire Middle East policy has led to several overseas conflicts, from the Iraq War to the ongoing Russia-Ukraine dispute.

“The decisions of our generation on national security are determined more than anything by what the George W. Bush administration did with that nine-year war in Iraq and, alongside it, a 13-year war in Afghanistan that’s still going on,” Ms. Maddow said during a discussion about her new documentary, “Why We Did It.”

Oh yeah, and the egg that got all over Obama’s face when he drew a red line for Syria that was ignored, then did nothing about it, completely destroying his credibility among other nations? That was Bush’s fault too. So is Chuck Hagel slashing the size of the military even as Russia and China become ever more bellicose.

“Those are the determinative constraints for our thinking about everything, from…

Obama executive order declares national emergency; Ukraine crisis an “extraordinary threat” to U.S. national security

Consortium of Defense Analysts

Today, at 1:05 pm, U.S. President Barack Obama issued a statementto the press that:

“This morning I signed an executive order that authorizes sanctions on individuals and entities responsible for violating the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, or for stealing the assets of the Ukrainian people.

According to my guidance, the State Department has also put in place restrictions on the travel of certain individuals and officials.  These decisions continue our efforts to impose a cost on Russia and those responsible for the situation in Crimea.  And they also give us the flexibility to adjust our response going forward based on Russia’s actions.”

But Obama left out the most important and quite extraordinary part of his executive order from his press statement:

I, BARACK OBAMA, President of the United States of America, find that the actions and policies of persons — including persons who have asserted governmental authority…

CPAC 2014: Ted Cruz Speech Video Transcript — Yes We Can!

CPAC 2014 kicked off today and no better way to kick it off here than with Senator Ted Cruz’s speech. The following key quotes are from Senator Cruz’s website. I hope to transcribe the entire video, but wanted to get this up for you. Congress steps up action on Ukraine

Whiskey Tango Foxtrot

Congress took its first official steps to address the ongoing international crisis in Ukraine on Thursday, with a leading House committee approving a symbolic resolution condemning Russia’s recent actions, and the U.S. House advancing legislation to provide Ukraine with up to $1 billion in economic relief.

The House Foreign Relations Committee’s resolution condemns Russia for its occupation of Ukraine’s Crimean peninsula and called on the Obama administration to enact tough financial and trade sanctions against Russia.

The measure represents a formal call from lawmakers on Capitol Hill to President Obama for sanctions to add pressure to Russia to back down from its military presence in Crimea.

The move by the panel, which had bipartisan support, came just hours after the White House announced it was imposing visa restrictions on unnamed Russian and Ukrainian citizens who are “responsible for or complicit in threatening the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine.”

PUMABydesign001's Blog

In recent months ammunition has slowly begun appearing on store shelves at major retailers in the United States. But after nearly two years of shortages that had ammunition manufacturers running their factories 24 hours a day, 7 days a week because of consumer demand and massive government purchases, it appears that another supply pipeline may have been cut…

…Over the past 6-12 months, shortages of some calibers such as 7.62 used in the popular AK-47 semi-automatic weapon have been alleviated somewhat via massive imports of Russian production.

That is about to change.

The largest wholesale gun & ammo distributors in the US have informed us in private conversation today that a massive scramble is on for all 7.62 as Russia has reportedly halted all exports to the US of Russian made ammunition.
