Appeal to Ninth Circuit Filed after Federal Court in Seattle Upholds Censorship of Anti-Terrorism Advertisement

The American Freedom Law Center (AFLC) filed its opening brief on Friday in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, appealing a lower federal court ruling that denied AFLC’s motion for a preliminary injunction. AFLC’s motion requested that the court order the King County, Washington, transit authority to display an anti-terrorism bus advertisement that it had refused to display.

The proposed advertisement, which was submitted by the American Freedom Defense Initiative (AFDI) and its executive directors, Pamela Geller and Robert Spencer, included pictures, names, and a similar message from an earlier anti-terrorism advertisement sponsored by the U.S. State Department, which was accepted for display on King County buses. The State Department advertisement depicted the “Faces of Global Terrorism” in an effort to “stop a terrorist” and “save lives.” In addition…

High school student suspended for NRA t-shirt

a12iggymom's Blog

Shane Kinney, 16, refused to turn his NRA shirt inside out when told to do so by teacher.

(WGRZ) – The parents of a Grand Island High School sophomore confirm their son was recently made to serve a one day in-school suspension, resulting from his refusal to change clothes after a determination the shirt he was wearing violated the school’s dress code.

Wayne and Kim Kinney describe their son Shane, 16, as an avid outdoorsman and hunter.

Shane, like his parents, is also a member of the National Rifle Association (NRA).

The Kinneys say their son recently went to school wearing a tee shirt depicting his support of the NRA and the 2nd Amendment of the United States Constitution.

“It’s the same shirt he’s worn before, but this time they said something about it,” Wayne Kinney told WGRZ-TV.

According to his parents, a teacher at the high school told Shane…

If you think Obamacare is a wreck, you should check out Obama’s foreign policy

The Firewall

Here we go again. The Obama administration, confronted with a foreign-policy crisis, is flailing. This time it isn’t Syria, but Ukraine.

The Crimea’s March 16 referendum looms larger each day, but U.S. officials are issuing declarations and little more. America’s paramount goals over the next few days must be to make a final serious effort to preserve Ukraine’s territorial integrity—with a weak hand and very limited time—and to prepare a post-referendum plan to contain the strategic damage from the Obama administration’s latest fumble. If the president and his advisors fail, the only beneficiary would be Beijing.

The crisis in Ukraine is a product of Russia’s desire to restore control over Crimea and of Ukraine’s deep social and political divisions. But in a manner more reckless than feckless, the Obama administration has made matters worse at each step. It is fair to say that the White House “led from behind” as…

John Brennan: CIA is Beyond Reason

The Firewall

CIA Director John Brennan denied credible allegations of spying on Congress—a federal crime—leveled by Senate Intelligence Committee Chairwoman Dianne Feinstein with a classic Washington evasion.

“We wouldn’t do that,” Brennan said during an appearance before the Council on Foreign Relations. “That’s just beyond the scope of reason in terms of what we would do.”

Tick Tock, Mr. President, Tick Tock…

pundit from another planet

“I Dont Have Time to Waste. The Clock Is Ticking…”

The Weekly Standard‘s Daniel Halper reports: President Obama knows that his time is almost up. It’s a point he’s making to liberal Democratic donors to get them to donate generously in this year’s mid-term election.

“We have our blind spots and we have our dogmas and we’ve got our crazy folks…”

clock-roomAt a Democratic fundraiser last night in New York City, President Obama said, “I hope you will all step up because, although I’m very optimistic about our long-term trends, the notion that we would waste two years in further inaction rather than move boldly on a path that I think all of us in this room agree on — we don’t have time to waste.”

The president continued, “I don’t…
