Families of the Benghazi victims have reached out to Democratic lawmakers and asked them not to launch another investigation into the 2012 attack that claimed the lives of four Americans, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) claimed Friday.

“Two of their families have called us and said, ‘Please don’t take us down this path again,’” Pelosi said during her weekly press conference. “It’s really hard for them. It’s very sad.

The San Francisco congresswoman then took a swing at Rep. Darrell Issa (R-Calif.), while skewering the new committee headed by Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-S.C.) to investigate Benghazi.

Albany, N.Y. (AP) — The former chief adviser to Republican Gov. George Pataki is running for New York attorney general against Democratic incumbent Eric Schneiderman.

John Cahill, also former state conservation commissioner, tells a gathering in Yonkers, his hometown, that he intends to be an advocate for all New Yorkers as both the public’s prosecutor and defender.

The 55-year-old Cahill is emphasizing access to a good school as a civil rights issue and says with the right oversight New York’s natural gas can be tapped to boost the economy while protecting the environment.

The AG’s office has a staff of more than 600 lawyers.

Pataki was governor from 1995 to 2006.

Cahill and Pataki later founded an environmental and energy consulting firm.

Both are with the Chadbourne & Parke law firm in Manhattan.

Lilac Festival backs off camera ban, question is why and WHO was asking for this ban???

a12iggymom's Blog

Matthew Daneman

Staff writer

The Lilac Festival is backpedaling on a policy to block professionalgrade cameras from the festival site. The festival this year had put language on its website that included digital SLR cameras among the more typical prohibited goods, such as dogs, skateboards, bikes, and outside food and beverages. That language was taken down Saturday afternoon as the festival briefly went back and forth on its policy. Eventually, officials backed off the ban and would not prohibit anyone from bringing such cameras into the festival site. Festival spokeswoman Randi Minetor said the ban was intended for use of higher-end cameras when taking pictures of the live concerts. “We are concerned about people interested in taking photos of the bands and selling them,” Minetor said, adding that some of the bands performing free shows at the festival have language in their contracts prohibiting unauthorized commercial photography of them.

Albany Bureau

ALBANY — Lt. Gov. Robert Duffy’s decision this week not to seek reelection leaves both Gov. Andrew Cuomo and Republican challenger Rob Astorino searching for a running mate. Both will have to move fast: The state Republican Party will nominate its preferred candidate beginning Wednesday, with the Democrats following the week after. Astorino, the Westchester County executive, and Cuomo are both looking for a candidate that can be an effective surrogate on the campaign trail while appealing to voters they may have difficulty reaching otherwise.

But whom they pick likely will have little impact on the race itself, according to Siena College pollster Steve Greenberg.

“Virtually none,” he said. “People vote for governor. It’s not like you get a separate vote for lieutenant governor. They run as a ticket, and people vote for a governor.”

The lieutenant governor position is one that has both attracted and…

NY Senate debate keeps ‘Comedy Central’ vie wers laughing

a12iggymom's Blog

Sometimes, the New York State Senate makes it too easy.

The Senate’s epic floor debate on yogurt and all things snack foods continues to make the late-night-comedy rounds, garnering a full opening segment on Comedy Central’s The Daily Show late Thursday night.

Host Jon Stewart lampooned the Senate for more than eight minutes, showing lengthy clips from what he called “maybe the best 40 minutes any legislative chamber anywhere in the country has ever spent.” (Last week, the State Senate voted to make yogurt the official state snack.) Stewart even had time to gather some analysis from Senior State Snack Correspondent Jessica Williams, who stood in front of a green screen image of a building that kinda/ sorta looked like the state Capitol but wasn’t.

He closed with a message to the state Assembly, which would have to pass the bill before it reaches Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s desk.

“Before the…

Gannett Washington bureau

WASHINGTON — President Barack Obama plans to visit the Tappan Zee Bridge in the Hudson Valley on Wednesday for a speech highlighting the need for congressional action on infrastructure spending, the White House announced Saturday. Obama will use his visit to the site, where work is underway on pilings for a new bridge spanning the Hudson River, to highlight the urgency of replenishing the Highway Trust Fund. The administration predicts the fund will become insolvent by the end of the summer.

The White House plans several infrastructure- themed events in the coming week, starting with the release a report Monday to lay out its argument for infrastructure investment and the funding crisis if Congress fails to act.

On Wednesday, Obama will combine his Tappan Zee Bridge visit with a stop in Cleveland, Ohio, to look at a new transit station.

Construction is in full swing…

Supreme Court says ‘Amen’

When has prayer ever hurt anyone? The whole ideology of prayer is for goodwill, peace and blessings. In my opinion, and judging by the frequency of mass school shootings and other public displays of violence (e.g., school board meetings, military bases, etc.), prayer is exactly what we need!

Muslim Brotherhood 100 Year Plan, English Version, see how many they have accomplished

The Muslim Brotherhood “Project” By: Patrick Poole
FrontPageMagazine.com | Thursday, May 11, 2006

One might be led to think that if international law enforcement authorities and Western intelligence agencies had discovered a twenty-year old document revealing a top-secret plan developed by the oldest Islamist organization with one of the most extensive terror networks in the world to launch a program of “cultural invasion” and eventual conquest of the West that virtually mirrors the tactics used by Islamists for more than two decades, that such news would scream from headlines published on the front pages and above the fold of the New York Times, Washington Post, London Times, Le Monde, Bild, and La Repubblica.

If that’s what you might think, you would be wrong.

In fact, such a document was recovered in a raid by Swiss authorities in November 2001, two months after the horror…
