Rochester, N.Y. – A 14-year-old student at Our Lady of Mercy High School is being treated at an area hospital for bacterial meningitis.
According to Mercy High School principal Terry Quinn, the school is working closely with the Monroe County Department of Health to identify students and staff who may have had contact with the student and be sure that they are getting the proper treatment.
The school was told late Thursday afternoon that it was a possible case of bacterial meningitis. Parents of students were notified through email around 10:45 a.m. Friday.
Those who may have been exposed to the illness have been asked to go to the doctor.
