Gas prices higher in Rochester

Rochester, N.Y. – Gas prices are down across the country, but in Rochester, drivers are still paying more than most people in the U.S.

According to AAA, the Rochester area has the highest average price per gallon than any other metro area in the continental U.S.

On Friday, AAA reported the average price for a gallon of unleaded regular gasoline is $2.83 in the Rochester area — That’s 60 cents higher than the national average of $2.23 a gallon.

In an email to 13WHAM News, AAA spokesperson Diana Dibble said New York gas prices are rarely competitive with the national average. Dibble said, “New York State gas prices are always higher than U.S. averages due to our tax structure in New York State.”
