Victor, N.Y. – Investigators arrested a Central New York man after an investigation found he had been using stolen credit card accounts to purchase more than $200,000 in jewelry.
Deputies say on February 11, 33-year-old Rahkeim Scarlett of Troy purchased a Rolex watch and diamond earrings for roughly $29,000. Before Scarlett could leave the store with his purchase, it was determined that he was using a cloned credit card with the numbers of a stolen credit card account.
Ontario County Sheriff’s deputies say Scarlett ran out of the store and hid in snow banks by Eastview Mall, but was eventually discovered and taken into custody.
After his arrest, Scarlett was reportedly found to have additional high-value jewelry items purchased using cloned credit cards in other counties throughout Eastern and Central New York.
