At this turbulent time in history when many people are looking for answers to their problems, a brand-new TV campaign calling the Islamic prophet Muhammad the “savior of humanity” is about to saturate the airwaves of Australia.
“Tens of thousands” of dollars have reportedly been raised by the Muslim community to fund a series of 30-second commercials to begin airing on the country’s biggest networks starting July 9.
The ads are produced by My Peace, an Australian group looking to build bridges between the Muslim community and other citizens of the land Down Under.
The prime-time spots will air over the course of several months, and feature famous historical figures such as Mahatma Gandhi and George Bernard Shaw praising the virtues of Muhammad.
“This is a response to misinformation. Not many (Australians) are aware of who the prophet is and why we regard him so highly and so emotionally,” My Peace founder Diaa Mohamed told the Sydney Daily Telegraph.
“The commercials will be animated with voiceovers and will have quotes on the screen.
“Muhammad is the most influential man in history and the commercials will show what scholars and historians have said about him.”
Gandhi said the prophet “holds undisputed sway over the hearts of millions” and Shaw called him the “savior of humanity.”
My Peace is even selling tickets for those interested in attending the public premiere of the commercials.
This isn’t the first time the group has aired television ads to promote Islam.
Chicago is emerging as the city on the cutting edge of Muslim outreach in America. The Inner-City Muslim Action network (IMAN) is one Muslim institution that is offering a free medical clinic in a poor neighborhood. IMAN has existed for 15 years. Other Muslim organizations that are promoting outreach are CAMP, the Council for the advancement of Muslim Professionals, Chicago’s Muslim federation, and the Webb Foundation.
#MyJihad, a campaign that posts ads on buses and in transit stations which depict American Muslims speak about their faith, got its start in Chicago before migrating to San Francisco and Washington, D.C.
There are 400,000 Muslims in Chicago, and 15 new mosques have been built there in the last ten years. Jane I. Smith, a former dean at Harvard Divinity School, said, “There are good things happening in many places, but Chicago seems to me to kind of have it all. It’s got all different backgrounds represented, and different ways of approaching Islam.”
More than 500 mosques have been built in the U.S. in the last ten years, and organizations like IMAN, which offers help to other Muslim organizations trying to launch around the country in cities like Detroit, Atlanta, New York City, Baltimore and Washington, D.C., are getting more and more funding.
Nearly half of 600 Muslim-American citizens polled who plan to vote in the 2012 presidential election believe parodies of Muhammad should be prosecuted criminally in the U.S., and one in eight say the offense is so serious violators should face the death penalty.
The results came in a groundbreaking scientific poll for WND by the public-opinion research and media consulting company Wenzel Strategies. It was taken Oct. 22-26 and carries a margin of error of plus or minus 3.98 percentage points.
The poll also found 40 percent of Muslims in America believe they should not be judged by U.S. law and the Constitution, but by Shariah standards.
And the big winner among Muslim-Americans in the presidential election is Barack Obama, the poll found. More than 72 percent said they are definitely supporting Obama, and another 8.5 percent are leaning that direction. Only 11 percent are for Romney.
Nearly 55 percent of the American Muslim voters say the U.S. is on the right track, and another 13 percent are uncertain. Virtually all of the respondents (98 percent) are American citizens and 97 percent are registered to vote.
“Almost half of those Muslims surveyed – an astonishing 46 percent – said they believe those Americans who offer criticism or parodies of Islam should face criminal charges,” said pollster Fritz Wenzel in an analysis of the survey’s results.
“Even more shocking: One in eight respondents said they think those Americans who criticize or parody Islam should face the death penalty, while another nine percent said they were unsure on the question,” he said.
Wenzel said even the 9 percent “undecided” on that particular question is alarming.
“Seldom in survey research does a response of ‘not sure’ carry such significance, but the response to this question certainly is a surprise, given the severity of the question, and offers insight into the conflict that some Muslims appear to face in making the ideals under-girding American society fit into their religious lifestyle,” he said.
More of Obama’s war on women, the fallout of Obama’s pro-sharia foreign policy. Much thanks to Assad Elepty for sending this.
EGYPT: Islamists & Salafist attempt to legalise Paedophilia
National Council for Women (NCW) called on Egypt’s Ministry of Interior and security officials in Egypt’s northwestern governorate of Matrouh, Saturday, to take the required action to find Sara Abdel-Malik, a 13-year-old girl who was reportedly kidnapped in September.
Abdel-Malik’s father had filed a complaint to the the national body for women’s issues, reporting that his teenage daughter was kidnapped after leaving school on 30 September.
According to the father, the girl was kidnapped by a young man who forcibly married her despite the fact that she is still a child.
In the Saturday statement published on their official website, the NCW expressed its complete rejection of child marriage, adding that it is forbidden under Egyptian law. The legal marital age in Egypt is currently 18 years old.
In May, a controversial law lowering the marriage age was put to the now-dissolved People’s Assembly (lower house of parliament), sparking uproar among women’s rights organisations. Similarly, human rights groups and political figures condemned recent calls by Islamist members of Egypt’s Constituent Assembly to reduce the marital age for women to as young as nine years old in the draft constitution.
In addition Article 36 threatens equality between men and women by saying that the state shall ensure equality between men and women as long as it does not conflict with “the rulings of Islamic Sharia” and goes on to say that the state shall ensure that a woman will “reconcile between her duties toward the family and her work in society.” This provision is inconsistent with the provision in the same chapter that prohibits discrimination on the grounds of sex. Discrimination against women under Egyptian law, and in particular in family law, is a longstanding problem, but keeping the reference to “rulings of Sharia” in the new constitution would open the door to further regression in women’s rights, Muslim Women are already discriminated against when it comes to matters of inheritance.
In a later interview Makhyoun said on the live TV program Al Ashira Masa2an that in keeping with the tradition of the prophet girls should marry as young as 9. Some Brotherhood members and all Salafi members of parliament are determined to amend Egypt’s child law to lower the marriage age from 18 to 9. One of the frequently criticized forms of human trafficking in Egypt is that young girls from poor families have been trafficked to the Gulf for early marriage.
“It is particularly reprehensible that committee members should bow to pressure to exclude language criminalizing sexual harassment and trafficking of women and children when this is not only a serious crime under international law, and is clearly happening,” Houry said.
Dr. Syed Taj, an Indian-born Michigan Muslim Candidate for Congress accepts Hamas-linked CAIR support and funding, and is embraced by radical Muslims.
An Indian-born Michigan Muslim Democrat running for U.S. Congress with ties to radical Islam has accepted a campaign contribution from CAIR PAC (Council on American Islamic Relations), an unindicted co-conspirator in the nation’s largest-ever terror-financing trial.
Even though Michigan’s 11th District, which he hopes to represent, is predominately non-Muslim, Dr. Syed Sabahuddin Taj told the Arab American News that representing Muslims was a top reason he is running for Congress.
“I looked around at the congress (sic) and realized there really is no representation for us, number one as minorities, and number two as Muslims. Those were two reasons for me to come out,” Dr. Taj said. He has been supported by both Muslim members of Congress, Keith Ellison of Minnesota, and Andre Carson of Indiana.
In the same article Dr. Taj said he opposes anti-Sharia legislation that has been introduced in Michigan and around the country, and opposes provisions of the Patriot Act and the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), which was signed by President Obama. He also opposed an initiative by the Michigan secretary of state requiring a citizen checkbox on voting ballots.
The 11th District includes northwest suburbs of Detroit in Wayne and Oakland counties and is an amalgam of working-class neighborhoods and affluent professional communities. Oakland County includes the nation’s largest concentration of Chaldeans, who fled war and Muslim oppression in Iraq. It is also home to the state’s largest concentration of Jews.
The district was formerly represented by Thaddeus McCotter, who resigned his post, thus the seat is now vacant. Dr. Taj is running against Republican businessman, teacher and veteran of the Vietnam and Iraqi wars, Kerry Bentivolio.
A semitrailer truck hauling 40,000 pounds of bacon overturned on Interstate 74 near Deer Creek, Michigan, spilling its load.
Pantagraph The driver, Rodney J. Kalman, 57, of Muskegon, MI, was taken to OSF Saint Francis Medical Center, Peoria, with what state police said were minor injuries. He was charged with improper lane usage.
Litigation jihadists from a ‘prominent’ Muslim civil rights group in Dearbornistan plan to ask Eric Holder to investigate the spillage as an Islamophobic hate crime, aimed at preventing Muslim drivers from reaching their intended destinations from I-74.
MSN NOW In the meantime, the nation is reeling from the loss of 40,000 pounds of bacon which ”crossed over” when a semi crashed and spilled its smoky, delicious contents all over Interstate 74 near Deer Creek, Mich. The Eastbound truck drifted into the center median, when tragedy struck.
Luckily the driver was OK, so let us not dwell on the fact that the bacon is no longer with us, but join us now in a celebration of its life. The bacon was known — and loved — by so many. Bacon was an active member of its community and contributed to countless sandwiches, breakfasts, and even a sundae or two. Join us now in a moment of silence as we reflect on the joy bacon brought to all who knew it.
