The president touched down by way of Air Force One around 11:07 a.m. at the DHL facility in Erlanger, Ky. He stepped out of the plane at around 11:14 a.m. He was greeted by Hamilton County Commissioner Todd Portune and Cincinnati Councilman Cecil Thomas. Kentucky Governor Steve Beshear was also on site and the two briefly discussed the Brent Spence Bridge project .
The president quickly took his jacket off in the hot Tri-State sun and greeted the crowd at the DHL facility. The motorcade left the airport for Cincinnati around 11:24 a.m.
He arrived in downtown Cincinnati a short time later and stopped by the Skyilne Chili at 7th and Vine street s. He left promptly at 12 p.m.
Several members of the audience and press for President Obama’s town hall began piling into Music Hall after 1 p.m.
At about 1:50 p.m. POTUS made an unscheduled appearance in the lobby of Music Hall to speak to supporters who weren’t able to get into the town hall in the ballroom.
“We couldn’t fit everybody in the big place, so I had to come to you,” the president said. “This is going to be an even more important election than 2008 because we’re going to be talking about two fundamentally different visions for the country.”
As he shook hands around the temporary barricades, a chant of “four more years” went up.
President Obama took the stage at Music Hall just after 2 p.m.
He started by saying, “Hello Cincinnati. It’s good to be back. Now, I know some of you think I came to this Music Hall to sing,” President Obama joked.
President Obama met with former Cincinnati mayor and talk show host Jerry Springer before his speech. Springer said he supports the president’s re-election.
