Iran dramatically shifts Iraq policy to confront ISIS

a12iggymom's Blog

BAGHDAD: As pressure built up for Nouri al-Maliki to step down from the prime minister post in Iraq last month, Iran, his most ardent supporter stayed surprisingly silent as top Iranian officials worked to get him out. Similarly, when the United States, regularly denounced as the Great Satan by officials in Iran, began bombing inside Iraq last month, Tehran stayed quiet.
This marked shift in Iran’s approach to Iraq is a response to the gains of ISIS, the militant group which has torn across Iraqi territory and come within striking distance of the Iranian border.
ISIS fighters in Iraq have engaged in acts of brutality, including beheadings and mass executions, often targeting Shiites, the majority sect of Iran.
As a result of this threat, Iran has had to take a more flexible approach to its policy in Iraq, which has led to a series of dramatic shifts, experts say.

Secretary of State John Kerry: ?Bible? says U.S. should protect Muslims against global warming

Seeing the satanic Cult of islam wasn’t started until 700 Ad, the bible says NOTHING about this demon cult!

by Dan Butcher • September 3, 2014

It’s time for another WTH moment from U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry. While ISIS is currently rolling heads and carrying out a genocide against Christians in Iraq, Kerry claims that the Bible tells the U.S. to protect Muslims from global warming.

“Our faiths are inextricably linked on any number of things that we must confront and deal with in policy concepts today. Our faiths are inextricably linked on the environment. For many of us, respect for God’s creation also translates into a duty to protect and sustain his first creation, Earth, the planet.

“Confronting climate change is, in the long run, one of the greatest challenges that we face, and you can see this duty or responsibility laid out in Scriptures clearly, beginning…

CDC Director Dr. Tom Frieden: Ebola outbreak spiraling out of control

100,000 but December in US

by Dan Butcher • September 3, 2014

Centers of Disease Control and Prevention director Dr. Tom Frieden said that the current Ebola outbreak is “spiraling out of control.”
“It is the world’s first Ebola epidemic and it is spiraling out of control. It’s bad now and it’s going to get worse in the very near future.
“There is still a window of opportunity to tamp it down, but that window is closing. We really have to act now.
“We need to support countries with resources, with technical experts and with cooperation. Too many places are sealing off these countries.
“If we do that, paradoxically, it’s going to reduce safety everywhere else. Whether we like it or not, we’re all connected and it’s in our interest to help them tamp this down and control it.

Obama was recently ranked the worst president in modern history by Quinipiac—which is hardly a bastion of conservatism. That pretty much says it all…because it is true.

SARAJEVO, Bosnia-Herzegovina (AP) — Bosnian police have detained 16 people suspected of having fought in Syria and Iraq or of recruiting and funding other Balkan men to join the Islamic militants there, they said Wednesday.

Police said about 200 officers from a number of Bosnian law enforcement agencies were involved in an operation targeting 17 locations around the country.

The arrested were suspected of “recruiting (Bosnian) nationals for Syria and Iraq and funding and organizing their travel” to the two countries, police said. They were also suspected of “participating in armed conflicts in Syria and Iraq where they fought alongside radical terrorist groups and organizations,” including the Islamic State group.

During the search of locations where suspects were arrested, police found and seized weapons, ammunition, computer equipment, telephone cards and propaganda material.

BAGHDAD (AP) — Militants from the Islamic State group carried out a mass killing of hundreds of Iraqi soldiers captured when the extremists overran a military base north of Baghdad in June, a leading international watchdog said Wednesday.

The incident at Camp Speicher, an air base that previously served as a U.S. military facility, was one of the worst atrocities perpetrated by the Islamic State group as it seized large swaths of northern and western Iraq.

According to Human Rights Watch, new evidence indicates Islamic State fighters killed between 560 and 770 men captured at Camp Speicher, near the city of Tikrit — a figure…

Finding an ISIS Training Camp Using Google Earth

a12iggymom's Blog

Soulskill posted about two weeks ago | from the bet-you-wished-you’d-stuck-to-word-of-mouth dept. Google

An anonymous reader writes: Terrorist organization ISIS has been in the news a lot lately for their hostile activities in Iraq and Syria. They’ve also been very active online, posting propaganda and photos on various social networking sites to try to recruit more members. Frequently, they’ll have pictures of themselves in nondescript locations — but even carefully selected images give clues to a real location. Citizen journalists at Bellingcat analyzed a group of these photos, comparing buildings and bridges in the background to images from Google Earth. With very little to go on, they were able to pinpoint the location of a terrorist training camp.

Ayman al-Zawahiri wants al-Qaeda to be the world’s foremost jihadist group

Al-Qaeda leader Ayman al-Zawahiri has announced in a videoed message the creation of an Indian branch of his militant group to “raise the flag of jihad” across South Asia.

In the 55-minute video posted online, Zawahari pledged renewed loyalty to Afghan Taliban leader Mullah Omar.
Correspondents say his stated allegiance is an apparent snub to Islamic State (IS) militants.
IS is challenging al-Qaeda to lead worldwide Islamist militancy.
Announcing the formation of “al-Qaeda in the Indian Subcontinent” using a mixture of his native Arabic and Urdu widely spoken in Pakistan, Zawahiri appeared eager to regain some of the limelight, correspondents say.
