Anniston FEMA facility will be used to house young illegal immigrants, Rep. Mike Rogers says plan ‘misguided’
FEMA’s Center for Domestic Preparedness in Anniston.
The White House’s plan to use a Federal Emergency Management facility in Anniston to house some of the minor children flooding across the U.S. border is being met with harsh criticism from Alabama lawmaker Rep. Mike Rogers.
Rogers, R-Saks, said he was informed in an email today of the plan to house children at FEMA’s Center for Domestic Preparedness. He responded with a letter to Health and Human Services Secretary Sylvia Burwell and Department of Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson.
Rogers said the plan was “misguided and misinformed” and that the CDP, which provides emergency preparedness training for first responders, was not designed as a housing facility.

The disturbing details of this secret initiative were made public this week by Iowa Senator Chuck Grassley, who has obtained DHS electronic mail discussing what could be a terrorist “hands off” list. The exchange includes a 2012 email chain between U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) asking whether to admit an individual with ties to various terrorist groups. The individual had scheduled an upcoming flight into the U.S., according to an announcement issued by the senator.

Homeland Security buses carrying migrant children and families were rerouted Tuesday to a facility in San Diego after American flag-waving protesters blocked the group from reaching a suburban processing center.
The standoff in Murrieta came after Mayor Alan Long urged residents to complain to elected officials about the plan to transfer the Central American migrants to California to ease overcrowding of facilities along the Texas-Mexico border.
Many protesters held U.S. flags, while others held signs reading “stop illegal immigration,” and “illegals out!”
“We can’t start taking care of others if we can’t take care of our own,” protester Nancy Greyson, 60, of Murrieta, told the Desert Sun newspaper.

In a series of studies beginning in 1999, he found that when girls had a warm relationship with their fathers and spent a lot of time with them in the first five to seven years of their lives, they had a reduced risk of early puberty, early initiation of sex and teen pregnancy. As Ellis continued this work, however, he became increasingly frustrated. Clearly, the association between fathers and daughters was profound. Yet he could not determine whether the parental behavior caused the consequences he was seeing in the daughters. An alternative was that girls who begin puberty early and engage in risky sexual behavior do so because they inherited certain genes from their parents.
