Boy in “tragic” viral photo of Syrian orphan is not Syrian and is not an orphan

 

Have you seen this photo floating around.  It purportedly shows a Syrian orphan sleeping between his parents’ graves. The image has made the rounds on Facebook, Twitter, and Tumblr.

Here’s an example of how the image has been portrayed:

Even the Syrian rebels have been using the image as propaganda. This tweet came from the Syrian opposition leader Ahmad Jarba:

He has since deleted the tweet after the photographer who took the photo revealed that this photo has absolutely nothing to do with Syria and that the boy in the photo is not an orphan.

Even the piles of rocks in the photos are not graves. They’re just piles of rocks.

Omnibus spending bill passed by the Congress cuts funding for jailing illegal immigrants

  Nancy Pelosi was recently quoted as saying the cupboard is bare, there is nothing left to cut. But she apparently spoke a little prematurely because Paul Ryan and Patty Murray found something which they thought was out of control–veteran, including disabled veterans, pensions–and they decided to cut them.

  When the Senate had the chance to right the wrong inflicted upon our military heroes by the House by replacing the pension cuts with a tax loophole closure used by illegal aliens the Democrats sided with the illegals over the veterans. (Twice, by the way.)

  Now the Congress has passed a massive omnibus spending bill and they have found something else to cut and it once again revolves around illegal aliens. You guessed it, it is not closing the tax loophole and it does not involve cutting any benefits illegal aliens might be receiving.

Democrats Working Hard With IRS To Make Sure Tea Party Groups Are Silenced In 2014 Midterms

Excerpted from WSJ: President Obama and Democrats have been at great pains to insist they knew nothing about IRS targeting of conservative 501(c)(4) nonprofits before the 2012 election. They’ve been at even greater pains this week to ensure that the same conservative groups are silenced in the 2014 midterms.

That’s the big, dirty secret of the omnibus negotiations. As one of the only bills destined to pass this year, the omnibus was—behind the scenes—a flurry of horse trading. One of the biggest fights was over GOP efforts to include language to stop the IRS from instituting a new round of 501(c)(4) targeting. The White House is so counting on the tax agency to muzzle its political opponents that it willingly sacrificed any manner of its own priorities to keep the muzzle in place.
